Cyanide is commonly released during structure fires and is poisonous to anyone who breathes it, warns a new coalition that wants better training and protection for the nation's firefighters.
The Cyanide Poisoning Treatment Coalition (CPTC) is a nonprofit organization whose members include representatives of fire, medical and industry organizations. The coalition is presenting its case for the first time today and Tuesday in Las Vegas at the annual Fire-Rescue Med Conference.
