Despite opposition from the trial bar, the Pennsylvania state Senate late Wednesday passed a bill that would require regulators to adopt a drug formulary and more stringent utilization review requirements.
Senate Bill 936 passed largely along party lines — two Democrats voted yes and a Republican dissented — and now heads to the House of Representatives.
“Even Democrats who voted against it didn’t say there was anything wrong with the bill. They just wanted more time,” said Sam Marshall, CEO of the Insurance Federation of Pennsylvania.
