Former California state Sen. Leland Yee was sentenced Wednesday to five years in federal prison for soliciting bribes, according to media reports.
Yee pleaded guilty last year to racketeering charges stemming from allegations that he sold his vote on several bills, including a workers' compensation measure that effectively prohibits out-of-state athletes from filing cumulative trauma claims in California.
The plea agreement included a recommended sentence of six to 10 years, and prosecutors pushed for an eight-year sentence.
