Bill Would Allow State to Investigate, Audit PEOs

A Democratic senator representing Fort Lauderdale filed a bill Wednesday that would place certain obligations on professional employer organizations (PEOs), also known as employee leasing companies. Senate Bill 1098, by Sen. Perry Thurston, and its House companion, HB 923, sponsored by Rep. Wengay Newton, D-St. Petersburg, would allow regulators to investigate, audit or review PEOs at the request of client companies.
