The Texas Division of Workers' Compensation says it intends to continue looking for payment inaccuracies by insurance carriers after an initial audit of lifetime income and death benefit payments found $511,000 in underpayments in only 64 claims.
“I am pleased to see that claimants received monies owed to them,” Workers’ Compensation Commissioner Ryan Brannan said in a press release. “However, I am concerned there may be other deserving claimants in the same situation. These results indicate that we need to continue these types of performance audits.”
