Opioid Maker Settles Attorney General Investigation for $500,000

An opioid manufacturer has agreed to pay $500,000 to settle allegations that it engaged in a widespread plot to unlawfully market its fentanyl spray and pay kickbacks to providers to push the product. Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey announced the consent judgment, which was entered Thursday in Suffolk Superior Court and resolves the case against Insys Therapeutics Inc. The attorney general began investigating Insys’ marketing of Subsys in 2014.
