Ky. Woman Remains in Jail Until She Repays $39K for Dead Mother's Benefits

A Kentucky woman who cashed her dead mother’s workers’ compensation benefit checks has agreed to repay $39,850 she took under a plea agreement, the New York State Inspector General’s office said Friday. Sheryl A. Colson, also known as Sheryl McLure, pleaded guilty in Orange County Court to third degree grand larceny, a felony. The 47-year-old resident of New Concord, Kentucky, was arrested in her home state last year and extradited to New York. She will be sentenced this summer, the inspector general’s office said.
