Some of the companies supplying novel dosages of prescription drugs that medical providers in California and Illinois are increasingly dispensing to patients include firms that have paid tens or hundreds of millions of dollars to settle criminal allegations, and others that have been accused by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of engaging in unsafe practices.
