Attorney Fees Must Be Reviewed by Judge, Department Says

The Kentucky Workers' Claims commissioner is reminding attorneys that their fees must be approved by an administrative law judge before they are paid. “It has come to the department’s attention that some defense counsel are not routinely filing motions for approval of attorney’s fees,” and those motions should be filed within 30 days of a final award or settlement, the department said in an emailed bulletin this week.
