As more and more reported cases of the coronavirus roll in, companies and carriers could have a hard time determining which sick employees are eligible for workers’ compensation benefits, industry experts said Thursday.
“This is unprecedented,” said Eddy Canavan, chief claims adviser for Southern California-based Alta Claims Services. “In workers’ comp, traditionally they don’t accept claims for illnesses.”
