Those who attended Texas Mutual Insurance Co.’s Work Safe, Texas Summit in Fort Worth this week received a demonstration of the company’s virtual-reality safety training tool that simulates scenarios such as falling from a height or being caught in a trench collapse.
The tool, called Safety-In-a-Box, consists of a Google cardboard viewer, operating instructions, and a virtual reality program that can be downloaded to any smartphone. When the phone is inserted into the viewer, users can virtually experience actual hazards likely to be encountered on a worksite.
