County prosecutors throughout California could convene meetings with insurance carriers and self-insured employers to discuss specific information about suspected fraud, under recently introduced legislation.
The insurance commissioner is allowed to convene investigative debriefings with prosecutors in an effort to fight fraud, according to AB 1681, by Assemblyman Tom Daly, D-Anaheim. However, neither commissioner who has served since lawmakers authorized these briefings in 2010 convened such a meeting, according to the bill Daly introduced Monday.
