Bill Would Expand Medical Treatment Study, Extend Deadline by 2 Years

A study on the effects of exempting certain treatment requests from prospective utilization review during the first 30 days following an injury would be delayed by two years but include two additional years of data, under recently introduced legislation. One of the provisions in Senate Bill 1160 from 2016 prohibits prospective UR in the first 30 days following an injury for most treatments provided by a doctor who is part of the payer’s medical provider network.
