Two bills that moving in the New York Legislature could ultimately affect workers and workers' compensation.
The state Senate and the Assembly on Thursday both approved Senate Bill 8828, which would establish a registry of construction fatalities in the state. Sponsored by Sen. Jessica Ramos, D-East Elmhurst and a frequent worker advocate, the bill would require county coroners to report construction-work deaths to the state within 72 hours of determining the cause of death.
