A Pearland police officer’s companion is attempting for a third time to receive death benefits under the city’s workers’ compensation fund following his death at the hands of a drunk driver,  the Houston Chronicle reported. At issue is whether Lucy Lugo meets the legal definition of common law wife. Endy Ekpanya was killed June 12, 2016, by Amber Willemsen after she left her job as a stripper.
