The California Workers’ Compensation Institute on Thursday reported that 1 in 14 COVID-19 cases involving people of working age from May through September were claimed as occupational.
Over that same period, 1 in 25 COVID-19 deaths among working-age adults — defined as those between 18 and 65 — was claimed.
CWCI said there were 647,196 COVID-19 cases among California’s working-age population during the five-month study period. Of those, 43,490 resulted in workers’ compensation claims.
