Virginia’s Department of Labor and Industry announced a new program to address state employees misclassifying workers, a practice that the Economic Policy Institute said is becoming more costly to taxpayers and social insurance systems nationwide.
On June 2, Virginia’s Labor Commissioner C. Ray Davenport approved a policy that would make the state’s Occupational Safety and Health Department take on an outreach program to teach employees and employers about misclassification of workers.
