Lawmakers Resurrect Single-Payer Proposal

California lawmakers resurrected a bill that would create a single-payer health care program for state residents that would defer to an advisory panel the question about how to handle occupational injuries. Assembly Bill 1400, by Assemblyman Ash Kalra, D-San Jose, on Thursday was referred to the Assembly Health Committee for a hearing.
