TDI Adopts NCCI Injury Codes

The Texas Department of Insurance has approved COVID-19 injury codes proposed by the National Council on Compensation Insurance. The NCCI in April proposed two new injury description codes — 83-COVID-19 and 83-Pandemic. TDI has now adopted the codes to “allow proper reporting of these types of claims,” the department said in an order posted Friday. The codes will apply to new and renewal policies for incident dates of Dec. 1, 2019, and later.
