North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum signed an executive order Wednesday providing indemnity and medical benefits to first responders, law officers and medical workers who are diagnosed with COVID-19.
North Dakota's state-run, monopolistic comp system does not normally cover viruses as occupational diseases.
Burgum's order also provides up to 14 days of wage replacement benefits for medical workers who are quarantined. After that time, benefits will be extended only if the workers test positive for the respiratory illness now sweeping the planet, the governor said in a news release.
