Illinois Gov. Patrick Quinn, running for re-election against a strong Republican opponent, split it down the middle in appointing four new arbitrators to the Workers' Compensation Commission.
Two of the lawyers have represented claimants and the other two come from the defense side.
Quinn appointed:
Maria Bocanegra, a claimants' attorney with the Katz Friedman law firm who was admitted to practice law in November 2010. She also serves on the state Department of Labor’s Labor Advisory Board, a role Quinn appointed her to last year.
