Arizona physicians would not be allowed to prescribe more than a five-day supply of any opioid medications in most cases, under a bill introduced in the state Senate.
SB 1111, by Sen. Karen Fann, R-Prescott, would impose a five-day limit on initial opioid prescriptions except in the case of surgery, when doctors would be allowed to offer a 14-day supply of narcotic painkillers.
