Japanese companies in Southern California provided employment for 106,000 and the total payroll reached $7.33 billion for fiscal 2001 according to the results of a recent survey. The survey also reports that nearly two-thirds of Japanese companies have a positive assessment of their business performance in spite of the economic downturn and the post 9-11 unstable environment. Forty percent of the survey respondents said that their firm was planning on business expansion. The majority of Japanese companies are involved in corporate giving and the total from the proceeds has reached $48 million....
