Japanese companies in Southern California provided employment for 106,000 and the total payroll reached $7.33 billion for fiscal 2001 according to the results of a recent survey. The survey also reports that nearly two-thirds of Japanese companies have a positive assessment of their business performance in spite of the economic downturn and the post 9-11 unstable environment. Forty percent of the survey respondents said that their firm was planning on business expansion.
