CAMARILLO, CA - WorkCompSchool, a division of WorkCompCentral, announced two new live courses in June for workers' compensation professionals seeking continuing education.
On Friday June 20, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. "How to Deal with Chronic Pain Cases" will be presented by a panel comprised of Constantine J. Gean, MD, MBA, FACOEM, Regional Medical Director, Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., Brenda M. Klass PhD, MFT, DACFE, David E. Bresler, PhD, L.Ac.,Dipl, Ac and Bradford L. Alex, DC.
"Actuaries estimate that chronic pain cases comprise up to $1 billion a year in claims costs," noted WorkCompSchool Director Cynthia Koppany. "This exclusive WorkCompSchool seminar will give claims professionals, attorneys and doctors the knowledge and tools they need to deal with chronic pain cases."
"How to Deal with Chronic Pain Cases" will review what is chronic pain in a medical context, the latest ACOEM and ODG Guidelines protocol on chronic pain, what treatment alternatives are available, and tips on chronic pain case management from a medical, legal and claims context.
"Covering the Bases; Fundamental and Emerging Work Comp Issues" is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2008 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Defense attorney Richard Owen and applicant attorney Harold Greene go back to basics with their "Siskel and Eberts 2 thumbs up" styled review of workers' compensation litigation that has made their presentation a cornerstone of the California State Bar Association's annual continuing education conference.
Koppany noted that this course is perfect for newcomers and seasoned vets alike. "Everyone benefits when diverging viewpoints dissect what you thought was a settled issue," she said. "Owen and Greene's presentation is unique because they cover why the defense takes a particular stance, and what strategies applicants use as they introduce both fundamental issues as well as current thoughts."
"Covering the Bases" will provide attendees with the fundamentals of workers' compensation litigation, how opposing parties view the issues, what strategies opposing parties implement to achieve their goals and common misconceptions about litigation, discovery, procedure, settlement and trial.
Both courses will be held at the WorkCompSchool Educational Facility located at 1320 Flynn Rd. #401, Camarillo, CA. Persons interested can register online at www.workcompschool.com or by calling 805-484-0333. The cost of each course is $275 per person if registration is completed by May 30, 2008, and $325 per person thereafter. Select WorkCompCentral subscribers are eligible for special member pricing.
