Louisiana is moving closer to adoption of a bill that would require licensing for workers’ compensation claim adjusters, a step that would bring a bit more consistency to the patchwork of licensing requirements across the U.S.
Senate Bill 266 by Gerald Long, R-Winnfield, has cleared the state Senate and received an 8-0 favorable vote from the House Insurance Committee on Wednesday. The House of Representatives must approve the bill before it goes to Gov. John Bel Edwards. With final approval, it would take effect on Aug. 1, 2017.
