WCIRB Launches New Web Service for Carriers

California’s Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau launched a web-based service providing insurers with real-time access to risk data including experience modifications, reported policyholder names and addresses, and assigned classifications.
The rating bureau said in a statement that the new service, called X-Mods and More, “is a giant leap forward in how information is exchanged between the WCIRB and insurer members.”
Carriers and authorized third-party administrators or managing general agents can pull up information on employers using a WCIRB-assigned “bureau number” or a policyholder’s Federal Employer Identification Number. If there is a match, the service will provide information in an electronic message that can be automatically sent to a carrier’s computer system.
The new web service will provide a 10-year history of an employer’s experience modification, or X-mod, policyholder names and addresses, and a count of in-force policies for the risk. The service will also provide information about standard classifications assigned by the WCIRB.
