Lifting heavy loads with awkward posture increases a woman's risk for chronic shoulder disorder, according to a University of Massachusetts study.A study from the university's Department of Work Environment examined the results of a Finnish national survey of about 7,000 people between 1977 and 1980. In 1997, the researchers invited more than 1,200 of the participants back, eliminated the ones with pre-existing shoulder disorders, and studied 883 subjects who regularly lifted objects at their jobs.
