Pizza Restaurant Owner Sentenced to Probation for Policy Lapses

The owner of several Happy's Pizza restaurants in Northeast Ohio will serve a year of probation and pay $18,000 restitution for failing to provide workers' compensation coverage to employees, the Ohio Bureau of Compensation said. Mike G. Abro of Avon Lake pleaded guilty on July 6 to one second-degree misdemeanor count of failure to comply, the bureau said. The Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas ordered the 43-year-old restaurant owner to bring his policy into compliance as a condition of probation.
