California Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday signed a bill clarifying the process created last year for staying liens filed by indicted and charged providers, two days before a federal judge is expected to decide whether the stays deprive lien claimants of due process. Assemblyman Tom Daly AB 1422, by Assemblyman Tom Daly, D-Anaheim, authorizes the Division of Workers’ Compensation to stay liens filed by entities controlled by providers charged with defrauding the work comp system or another health care program such as Medicare.
