Gun Store Owner Sentenced to Prison, Restitution for False Statements

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio announced that gun store owner Lawrence E. Waldren, 55, of Newark has been sentenced in federal district court to 12 months and one day in prison for making false statements in order to receive more than $148,000 in federal workers' compensation benefits between May 2005 and September 2008.Waldren also was ordered to pay restitution of $148,160.92 to the U.S. Department of Labor.A jury convicted Waldren on Feb. 1 of one count of making false statements.Witnesses testified that Waldren was receiving more than $2,000 a month in...
