Although Assembly Bill 5 was one of the most talked-about bills in the California Legislature this year, the California Workers' Compensation Institute has identified 19 other bills that may have workers’ comp relevance.
The bills are listed in a CWCI bulletin issued this week. Topping the list is AB 5, which will require employers to use a three-part test to determine whether a worker should be classified as an employee or independent contractor. For workers’ comp purposes, the requirement will take effect July 1.
