A California framing contractor is facing $225,500 in fines following an investigation into an accident in which a worker discharged a nail into his arm.
The Division of Occupational Safety and Health, also known as Cal/OSHA, cited Circle M Contractors Inc. for failing to train workers on the safe use of pneumatic nail guns.
The agency launched its investigation after an April 17 accident in which a carpenter was carrying a pneumatic nail gun around a worksite in Lake Forrest. The worker had his finger on the trigger and accidentally fired a nail into his arm.
Cal/OSHA said in a statement that its review of Circle M’s injury log shows 34 instances of nail gun injuries since 2016. The agency also said a Circle M employee in 2015 slipped and discharged a nail into his knee.
