A superior court judge said he will issue a decision next week on a case in which a former California correctional officer and his wife are accused of workers' compensation fraud for claiming a shooting outside of a San Francisco sex club was occupational, according to a report by the Sacramento Bee.
John A. Smiley was shot around 2:30 a.m. on April 27, 2008, outside of a San Francisco swingers club called Twist. The shooting paralyzed him from the waist down.
