Three nurse practitioners and a physician were indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday in connection with a pill mill bust that has already netted one guilty plea, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Middle District of Alabama announced this week.
Nurse practitioners Lillian Akwuba, 38, Elizabeth Cronier, 69, and Steven Cox, 62, and physician Julio Delgado, 55, are accused of conspiring with the owner of Family Practice, 56-year-old Dr. Gilberto Sanchez, to prescribe unnecessary medications, defrauding insurance companies in the process.
