Two leading state Senate Democrats said they are “very concerned” that the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board’s draft impairment guidelines will cut worker benefits and not improve medical outcomes.
In a Monday letter to board Chair Clarissa M. Rodriguez, Sens. Marisol Alcantara, D-New York City, chairwoman of the Senate Labor Committee, and Diane J. Savino, D-Staten Island-Brooklyn, vice-chairwoman of the Finance Committee, said the board has exceeded its legislative authority and is attempting to remove lawmakers’ oversight.
