The U.S. Navy last week announced a ban on e-cigarettes aboard ships, after several sailors were injured due to explosions of the devices.
Sailors have suffered serious injuries from the e-cigarettes, including first- and second-degree burns and facial disfigurement, Navy officials said in a press release. The injuries resulted from battery explosions while the e-cigarettes were in use, during charging or replacement of the battery, or through inadvertent contact of the device with a metal object.
