The Oregon Construction Contractors Board made recent visits to 72 job sites in the eastern part of the state and found three contractors who allegedly failed to carry mandatory workers’ compensation coverage.
The board said it visited an additional 59 job sites during the five-day investigation, but found that no workers were present.
“We suspect that in many of those cases, the workers heard the CCB was in town and abandoned the project, at least temporarily,” Stan Jessup, enforcement manager for the board, said in a statement.
