Federal prosecutors indicted a New England pain management clinic owner's nephew for his role in a Medicare scam that involved directing workers in Egypt to falsify medical records.
An indictment filed in the U.S. District Court in Boston on Tuesday accuses Moustafa Moataz Aboshady, 33, of billing for unperformed medical services while he completed a residency at New England Pain Associates.
A resident of Egypt who now lives in California, Aboshady started at New England Pain Associates in 2010 as a medical resident. His uncle, Fathalla Mashali, owned the pain management clinic.
