The Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation has formally proposed a rule that defines which injuries “shock the conscience,” as required by legislation passed in March.
The rule was mandated by Senate Bill 376, a measure that allows first responders to qualify for benefits if they suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome from witnessing or treating patients who suffered “grievous bodily harm of a nature that shocks the conscience.”
The Legislature left it up to the DWC to settle on the definition.
