Legislation Filed to Move Bad Faith Claims to Workers' Comp Commission

A pair of identical bills introduced to the Mississippi Legislature last week would require all lawsuits over alleged bad faith in the handling of workers' compensation claims to be referred to the state Workers' Compensation Commission instead of civil courts. Rep. Mark Formby, R-Picayune, introduced House Bill 1259 on Feb. 8. The bill has been referred to the House of Representatives' Insurance and Judiciary, Division A committees. Sen.
