Permanent partial disability benefits in Alaska would be indexed to inflation and adjusted each year under a bill introduced ahead of the legislative session that starts today.
House Bill 30, filed Friday by Rep. Andy Josephson, D-Anchorage, would increase the permanent partial disability benefit amount, by about 44.4%.
PPD benefits are calculated by multiplying an injured worker's percentage of permanent impairment by a fixed number, currently $177,000. The bill would increase the number, to $255,506, effective Jan. 1, 2020.
