Facts and procedural history: Bruce Brummel worked for Nicor Gas, a distributor of natural gas. In 2001, Brummel and some of his colleagues began to suffer from recurrent vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain weakness, and fatigue.
Brummel went to see a doctor, who opined that the symptoms were caused by ingestion of chemicals.
