Lawmaker Adds State Hospital Workers to Presumption Expansion Bill

Heart trouble would be presumed compensable for security workers at California state hospitals, under a recently amended bill. Sen. Ben Hueso, D-San Diego, on Tuesday added language to SB 416 to expand the presumption that is currently limited to security officers at Atascadero State Hospital. Under the amended bill, the term “injury,” as it relates to any security officer employed by the Department of State Hospitals, includes heart trouble.
