The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that a police officer's emotional distress from responding to the scene of a horrific accident involving a 12-year-old girl whom he knew, was not compensable. Up until late last year, Minnesota was among a minority of jurisdictions in the United States that did not allow workers to bring comp claims for mental injuries unless the mental injury was accompanied by a physical injury.This remains the standard in Connecticut, Ohio, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Montana, Nevada and New Hampshire.
