California lawmakers will hear testimony next week on legislation that would make anyone meeting the definition of a peace officer entitled to the presumption that certain conditions are caused by work.
The Senate Labor, Public Employment and Retirement Committee scheduled a March 27 hearing on Senate Bill 416.
The bill, by Sen. Ben Hueso, D-San Diego, would expand presumptions covering cancer, heart trouble, pneumonia, hernias, tuberculosis and meningitis to anyone meeting the Penal Code definition of “peace officer.”
