Former Industrial Commission Chairman Announces Run for Judgeship

The former chairman of the North Carolina Industrial Commission announced Monday that he is running for a seat on the state Court of Appeals in 2018.

Andrew Heath, former state budget director under ex-Gov. Pat McCrory, will be making his first run for public office and will seek the seat formerly held by Judge Doug McCullough, the North State Journal reported.

Heath received his law degree from Indiana University in 2006 and his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina-Asheville in 2003.

He will run as a Republican per a new statute that judicial candidates must identify their party affiliation, the Journal reported.
