A former Kentucky doctor will spend eight years in prison after admitting to prescribing opioids to more than a dozen people who didn’t need them, the U.S. Department of Justice announced last week.
Prosecutors accused Charles Fred Gott, 66, of unlawfully prescribing hydrocodone, oxymorphone, methadone and fentanyl to 14 people between 2010 and 2013.
He admitted to those charges, and to charges of fraudulent billing practices, in federal court last week.
