House Passes Bill to Appropriate $2.4 Million to Cover State Comp Costs

The Hawaii House of Representatives passed a bill that would appropriate an additional $2.4 million for the Department of Human Resources Development to cover workers’ compensation costs for the current fiscal year. Senate Bill 969, by Senate President Ron Kouchi, D-Kauai, says lawmakers in 2015 allocated $6.7 million to pay for workers’ compensation claims filed by state workers during the fiscal year running from July 1, 2016, through June 30.
