Two incidents of finger amputation led to an OSHA inspection that yielded $140,000 in penalties and 13 citations for a Missouri food manufacturer, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's St. Louis Area Office announced.
Piedmont-based Ajinomoto Windsor Inc. was cited for similar machine hazards in 2013, OSHA said.
A 54-year-old sanitation worker severed one finger, lost half of another, and injured a third to the degree it later had to be amputated, while cleaning debris from a breading machine in December, OSHA found.
