The City of New Orleans is analyzing why its workers' compensation costs will jump from $16 million in 2012 to $24 million in 2013. Cary Grant, budget director for New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, warned the City Council's Budget Committee about the 50% increase in costs for the city's estimated 1,000 outstanding workers' compensation claims, according to a report in the Times-Picayune newspaper.
